Many pet owners have kids, too. As much as they would love to give them the entire world they are limited by their finances. As luck would have it, most dog gifts fall in the $10 price range. Pre made stockings are always a good choice and since it is a self-contained gift, holding a variety of toys and treats, it’s economical as well as convenient. Raw hide candy canes are also good lower end dog gifts. If have an athletic dog that prefers toys over treats you may want to take a look at the gum bone Frisbee or the floating stick with a rope. For the non-athletic types the giggle Christmas balls are fun. For the families that have a dog and a hamster the Booda squishes hamster toy is a must have.

What kind of dog gifts can I buy with just a few more dollars?

There are a wide range of great dog gifts around the $30 range. Sealy makes a fabulous orthopedic bed designed to offer firmness and keep its shape. It is designed for older pets and those with orthopedic problems, but suffering one of these maladies doesn’t have to be a pre-requisite for purchase. Most normal beds cost around the same price as the orthopedic one, but aren’t nearly as comfortable. Pet portraits are another good mid-range gift. Especially for the dog that can’t pass by a mirror with out taking inventory of his spectacular shape and style. These are great gifts but we can’t lose sight of the practical. Retractable leads make very respectable Christmas gifts. After all, what dog doesn’t enjoy a brisk walk on a pretty day, especially if the lead allows him to run ahead of his owner?

For some pet owners, the sky is the limit. Pet spas have raised the standards of dog gift giving. Can you imagine sending your furry friend to New York City for some ‘sure enough’ pampering? Biscuit and Bath Doggie Village offers a spa package that features a pool, faux grassy fields, and salons with spa treatments, gourmet meals, and acupuncture and vet services. Although not as extravagant, a new chair or sofa built to fit your pet also make good higher end dog gifts. Not everyone has the money for somewhat frivolous gifts and would rather put their hard earned money into something a bit more practical. For these people, a new dog house is always a winning choice.

Statistics show that 75% of pet owners spend $95 on their dog gifts during the holiday season. Some of us spend less and some more. It really doesn’t matter how much you spend or what you buy, the important thing is to remember your pet at this special time and include him in the holiday festivities.
